About
The Samara Stool is a compact seating object defined by a three-leg radial structure. Inspired by the samara seed, its layout improves stability while creating clear legroom compared to conventional four-leg stools. Each leg tapers outward, giving the piece a grounded stance without appearing heavy.
The stool is constructed from solid wood, with legs and seat joined using concealed domino mortise-and-tenon joints. Each tenon inserts 25mm into both seat and leg, ensuring structural strength without visible fasteners. A custom jig was used during assembly to maintain precise angles and symmetry.
The legs are shaped and hand-finished to achieve smooth curves and consistent profiles. Material tests were carried out to evaluate grain direction and tactile quality before final production.
The design emphasizes spatial efficiency, structural clarity, and comfort in use, making it adaptable for both domestic and semi-public environments.
